Madagascar Healthcare Project

I was very anxious before arrival in Madagascar to begin a Healthcare project of which I knew almost nothing about. Upon arrival however, the long lasting anxiety quickly faded as I was welcomed into open arms by the Frontier staff. I was immediately given a rundown of the things I was going to be working on during my stay in Nosy-Be. I was basically given the opportunity see what I enjoyed doing the most and what I wanted to continue doing during my stay. By the end of my four weeks, I really didn’t want to leave.

The experiences I had during those four weeks were unforgettable. Whether it was going to youth club 3 times a week, designing and preparing a healthcare mural at École Frère, being said “hello” to by the young Malagasy children everywhere I went, playing (and winning) a football match against the nuns running the school, enjoying incredibly social party nights at camp every Friday, competing in Frontier’s very own Beach Olympics, meeting and being around such great people all day, or just living on a beautiful island for four weeks.

This was truly one of the greatest experiences of my life, and if I ever have an opportunity to do it again … well, it’s a no-brainer. Although next time, I think I’d have to stay for longer.
